Warfare
2025
The Bolt Action English Open is a celebration of thematic, historically grounded wargaming.A five-game event designed to encourage players to explore nations, fronts, and periods they might not normally field in a competitive setting. Hosted as part of the Wargames Association of Reading's annual Warfare show at the Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre, the English Open brings together hobbyists from across the country for a weekend of narrative-rich battles and diverse tabletop armies.
Players are to build lists tied to a specific nation, at a specific moment, on a specific front. As always, the English Open aimed to showcase the breadth of the game’s historical range — and the vibrant spread of armies on display proved just how creative and committed the community is.
With forces at 1066 points, list-building restrictions, veterancy requirements for commanders, and special rules encouraging returning players to explore new nations, attendees had to think well about the thematic and tactical elements of the event.
Below are the standings, results, and highlights from this year's English Open.
